Welcome to this week’s coverage of Seven Seas’ “Wonderful Wednesdays” licensing announcements! Seven Seas dropped a grand total of 6 new series, including the license of a collector’s edition of classic BL series, GRAVITATION by Maki Murakami. Now, let’s get right into the announcements.

Chasing Spica (Manga) – June 2024

Seven Seas’ first announcement of the day was for spicy yuri/Girls Love drama, Chasing Spica by Chihiro Orihi.

In this series, stylish but studious Serina is trying hard to qualify for a scholarship. Unfortunately, her tendency to skirt around the school’s dress code has gained her the attention of Reik, a member of the school’s disciplinary committee. To make things even worse for Serika, no matter what she does she can never beat Reiko in academics or athletics. That is until one day when Serina spots Reiko entering a love hotel with an unknown woman after school. What will happen now that Serina knows Reiko’s dirty little secret?

Seven Seas also announced that Chasing Spica Vol. 1 will be released in June 2024. The pricing for the series has been set at $14.99 USD & 18.99 CAD, with the series being available in single, large-trim prints as part of the Seven Seas GL imprint. Chasing Spica will also be available on digital platforms.

I’ll Never Be Your Crown Princess! – Betrothed (Manga) – July 2024

Following up Chasing Spica, Seven Seas announced the license of I’ll Never Be Your Crown Princess! – Betrothed, the sequel to the sexy women’s romance series of the same name by Saki Tsukigami, Rena Kamono, and Enn Tsutamori.

In this sequel series, we follow Liddy, a Japanese woman in her previous life, who is now the daughter of a duke and is engaged to marry Crown Prince Friedrich – against her wishes. Too bad her plan to lose her virginity to a stranger backfires as she ends up sleeping with the prince himself. Follow what happens with these hot-and-cold lovers, both in the streets and in the sheets!

Seven Seas also announced that I’ll Never Be Your Crown Princess! – Betrothed will be released in July 2024. The pricing for the series has been set at $14.99 USD & 18.99 CAD, with the series being available in single, large-trim prints as part of Seven Seas’ Steamship imprint. The Evil Queen’s Beautiful Principles (Light Novel) – April 2024

Next up from Seven Seas was the announcement of The Evil Queen’s Beautiful Principles, a light novel isekai series of reincarnation, royalty, and revenge, by Reia and Haduki Futaba, the creative team behind Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter.

In this world of royalty and magic, and young woman is reborn as Princess Luxeria with terrifyingly strong magic power, enough so that it forces her to be locked away in a tower where she later learns her family has been betrayed and murdered. Princess Luxeria then takes it upon herself to step out of her exile into a treacherous world on her quest for vengeance.

Seven Seas also announced that The Evil Queen’s Beautiful Principles will be released in April 2024. The pricing for the series has been set at $15.99 USD & 19.99 CAD, with the series being available in single, large-trim prints as part of the Seven Seas’ Airship imprint. The Evil Queen’s Beautiful Principles will also be available on digital platforms.

Yes, No, or Maybe? (Manga – Nov. 2024 + Light Novels – March 2024)

In a bit of an interesting surprise, Seven Seas also announced the license of the popular BL manga series Yes, No, or Maybe? By Michi Ichiho and Yukimura. To tie into this announcement Seven Seas also announced they will also be publishing two follow-up light novels to Yes, No, or Maybe? – Center of the World and Where Home Is, by Michi Ichiho and Lala Takemiya.

In Yes, No, or Maybe? we follow Kunieda Kei, an up-and-coming prince of the evening news. Inside he is secretly fiery and hot-tempered, that is until he meets stop-motion animator Tsuzuki Ushio. What will happen to Kei as the possibility of someone loving and accepting both of his sides grows?

Seven Seas also announced that Yes, No, or Maybe? Vol. 1 (Manga) will be released in November 2024 – Yes, No, or Maybe? Vol. 2 (Light Novel) in March 2024 – and Yes, No, or Maybe? Vol. 3 (Light Novel) in June 2024. The pricing for the series has been set at $14.99 USD & 18.99 CAD for Vol. 1 of the manga series, and $15.99 USD & $19.99 CAD. All three volumes will be released as single, large-trim editions, and will also be available as ebook editions on digital platforms.

Noss and Zakuro (Manga) – April 2024

Next up came the announcement for Noss and Zakuro, a quirky mother-daughter vampire comedy by rariatoo.

In Shadowsville, a supernatural land somewhere in between this world and the next, live a pair of not-so-spooky vampires, Noss and her adopted daughter Zakuro. With blood substitute juice box in hand, Noss and Zakuro frolic around town for anti-sun accessories, meeting up with their monster friends, and bonding like a real mother and daughter would… because blood is less important when you find a good substitute.

Seven Seas also announced that Noss and Zakuro Vol. 1 will be released in April 2024. The pricing for the series has been set at $15.99 USD & 19.99 CAD, with the series being available in single, large-trim prints. Noss and Zakuro will also be available on digital platforms.

Gravitation: Collector’s Edition (Manga) – April 2024

Last, but certainly not least, Seven Seas dropped a bombshell on their fans by announcing the brand new license for Collector’s Edition of the class Boys Love series, Gravitation by Maki Murakami. The last time the series was in print, it was from Tokyopop in the late ’00s. This brand-new print of the series will feature an all-new translation in a large-trim omnibus format!

Shindou Shuichi is a young, energetic, and optimistic wannabe rockstar in a band with his best friend, and together they are determined to top the charts. That is until romance novelist, Eiri Yuki, criticizes Shuichi’s lyrics. Determined to make Yuki eat his words, Shuichi begins to follow Yuki around, until Shuichi begins to fall hard for Yuki! Despite his cold, prickly demeanor Yuki even seems to like Shuichi back! Will Yuki be able to explore his traumatic past with help from Shuichi, and will Shuichi be able to make Yuki believe in his music? 

Seven Seas also announced that Gravitation: Collector’s Edition Vol. 1 will be released in April 2024.
