BBC and HBO’s His Dark Materials, adapted from Philip Pullman‘s best-selling trilogy of the same name, is slated to premiere this autumn, according to a new trailer released at San Diego Comic-Con International. During the series panel in Hall H on Thursday night,  the His Dark Materials extended trailer revealed the full horror of the plot, as well as the high-flying action of its core cast of characters.

By all appearances, His Dark Materials is sticking close to its source material. Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen) is manipulated into staying with the outwardly perfect Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson), whereupon she discovers an evil plot to separate children from their daemons, which are corporeal manifestations of their souls. Lyra goes on a journey that takes her through multiple dimensions to not only save her friends, but the entire world, with the help of people like Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and Will Parry (Amir Wilson).

HBO previously released a teaser trailer in May, which revealed the vicious adaptation that fans of the books deserve. The extended trailer goes even deeper, giving viewers a better taste of Iorek Byrnison’s incredible power, Mrs. Coulter’s manipulation, and Lord Asriel’s (James McAvoy) desperation for authority and control. It also shows off how perfectly cast Keen is as Lyra, in case there was any doubt about that.
