Moon Prism Power, Make Up! Netflix has officially landed the deal to release Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie Part 1 and Part 2 on June 3, 2021! Adapted from the Dream arc of the Sailor Moon manga series by Naoko Takeuchi, Sailor Moon Eternal is a part of the most recent Sailor Moon Crystal reboot and premiered in Japan earlier this year. Now it’s seeing its international debut via the major streaming platform on Netflix.

Takeuchi created Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians 30 years ago, first serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayosi in December 1991, Usagi and her friends have been captivating the hearts of audiences for decades. Reaching international acclaim, Sailor Moon is easily one of the most recognizable animated characters in pop culture and has become an icon for many, withstanding the test of time with a loyal fanbase both within Japan and abroad.

Sailor Moon Eternal is based on the original manga series’ Dream arc, which follows the Sailor Guardians’ growth as teenage girls and as protectors, it also brings in Chibi-Usa and Helios’ first love. The TOEI Animation/Studio DEEN movie is directed by Chiaki Kon of The Way of the Househusband and Nodame Cantibile: Paris Edition & Finale fame, with music by Yusuharu Takanashi and character designs by Kazuko Tadano.

Sailor Moon Eternal‘s arrival at Netflix brings this newest installment of Sailor Moon to the globe. Ema Hirayama, manager of content acquisition at Netflix said in a release from Netflix, “Like so many others around the world, I trace my love for anime back to watching ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’ when I was a toddler – pictures of me in Usagi’s Bun Head have become a family treasure. It’s a dream come true for all of us at Netflix to have ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie’ join our expansive anime slate and to share this incredible story with fans around the world.”

The upcoming adventures are set in April, when the cherry blossoms are in bloom and Tokyo is in a festive mood as it celebrates the largest Total Solar Eclipse of the century. As the new moon obscures the sun and gradually dims its light, Usagi and Chibi-Usa encounter Pegasus, who is in search of the chosen Maiden who can break the seal of the Golden Crystal. Meanwhile, a mysterious troupe called the Dead Moon Circus appears in town who’s nefarious plan is to scatter the nightmare incarnations known as Lemures, seize the ‘Legendary Silver Crystal,’ rule over the moon and the earth, and eventually dominate the entire universe…

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal comes to Netflix on June 3, 2021!
