It’s been debated by fans since Starz announced a full series order for their television adaption of Sandman: Overture scribe Neil Gaiman’s best-selling book American Gods: who will play the lead role of Shadow Moon? Today we get the answer: relative unknown Ricky Whittle of The 100 and Austenland will star as Shadow, the ex-con with a penchant for coin tricks who is recruited as a bodyguard by the enigmatic Mr. Wednesday as he travels the country on business of truly epic proportions. The series is helmed by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green who have previously worked together on Heroes.
