It took a bit of time for video game developer and publisher Gazillion’s massive online multiplayer game Marvel Heroes 2016 to make its way to consoles in the form of MARVEL HEROES OMEGA and now that wait is over as the game has released into public beta on PlayStation 4 with an Xbox One version to follow in early June.

Marvel Heroes Omega combines the core gameplay of Action-RPGs and MMOs with an expansive library of heroes from the Marvel Universe. Marvel fans and gamers can play together, level-up, defeat infamous Marvel Super Villains and henchmen, collect rare loot, and grow in power with thousands of hours of character progression and rewards. You can go at it alone or team up with friends online in order to battle a galaxy worth of iconic villains like Doctor Octopus, Sentinels, Green Goblin, and more.

Think of fantasy role-playing video games such as Gauntlet and Diablo, then cover it in the tapestry of the Marvel universe of characters and you’ll get Marvel Heroes Omega. We won’t have an official review till the game gets out of public beta in a few weeks, but so far it’s been a giant-sized experience. You’ve played similar experiences in the PS2 and Xbox 360 era with X-Men Legends or Marvel Ultimate Alliance, though never before has this many elements of the Marvel U been brought together. Best of all, the game is inviting to anyone who’s never picked up a controller. It’s simple to navigate and addictive to fans of the publisher’s titles. We’ve spent hours just talking with others pointing out easter eggs from dialogue, story points, to settings like Hell’s Kitchen and Avengers tower.

When you can choose between playing as Ghost Rider or Rocket Raccoon in a game, it’s something special.

Xbox One owners won’t be left out much longer as that hardware’s version of the game will launch June 20, 2017.

To celebrate today’s open beta launch for PlayStation 4, all players can also look forward to receiving Daredevil, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, as a free playable character. To receive this gift, players must download and install Marvel Heroes Omega and download the free Daredevil pack via the PlayStation Store on their PlayStation 4 console.

Marvel Heroes Omega is free to download, so if you’re a Marvel fan with a PlayStation definitely go and check this game out.

  1. It’s pretty fun. But it seems like unlocking more heroes will take forever unless you spend money. Unless they make Eternity Splinter giveaways a common occurrence. (They gave away a bunch over the weekend, which were enough for me to unlock my gurl Captain Marvel.)
