DC’s Superman/Spider-Man #1, the latest one-shot crossover comic book between DC and Marvel, hits shelves at local comic book shops tomorrow! In anticipation, DC has unveiled preview pages for the highly anticipated one-shot featuring the team-up of the Man of Steel and the Web-Slinger.
As previously announced, the Superman/Spider-Man one-shot will headline a main story from writer Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez:
When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world—especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!) Good thing our intrepid newshounds are secretly Superman and the amazing Spider-Man. To bring this clash of reporters‑turned‑heroes to life, Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez join forces to headline DC’s Superman/Spider-Man #1 with an unforgettable lead story.
The issue will also include seven back-up stories, as follows:
- Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson by Tom King and Jim Lee
- Jimmy Olsen and Carnage by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber
- Superboy and Spider-Man 2099 by Sean Murphy
- Power Girl and The Punisher by Gail Simone and Belén Ortega
- Superboy-Prime and Symbiote Spider-Man by Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere
- The Daily Planet and The Daily Bugle by Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott
- Pa Kent and Uncle Ben by Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval
Without a doubt, I think most people are more excited for the Jimmy Olsen and Carnage story by Fraction and Lieber than the actual main feature. Based on the preview, it’s safe to say the creative team is once again bringing the same charm as their Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen series a few years back.
Next month sees the release of Marvel’s one-shot, Spider-Man/Superman#1, continuing the historic celebration of two of the most iconic superheroes in pop culture.
