The superhero comedy returns with a new anniversary story from Seth Green and Hugh Sterbakov!
Twenty years after Freshmen first brought superpowered college students to the pages of Top Cow/Image Comics, Green and Sterbakov are returning to the series with an all-new story.
Freshmen: 20th Anniversary Hardcover Edition celebrates two decades of the cult superhero comedy with a new collection of the series and an original one-shot, Freshmen: 20th Anniversary Reunion Special. The campaign launches on Kickstarter Tuesday, August 18.

Originally co-created by Green and Sterbakov, Freshmen debuted in 2005 as a six-issue series from Top Cow. Leonard Kirk provided pencils, with Andrew Pepoy on inks and Tyson Wengler on colors. The original series was later collected in trade paperback, while a second volume, Freshmen II, continued the story in 2006 and 2007.

At the center of Freshmen is the freshman class at Freese College, whose lives are upended after an experimental device known as the Ax-Cell-Erator explodes. Rather than simply granting the students conventional superpowers, the accident gives each of them abilities tied to whatever was occupying their minds at the moment of the explosion.
The result is a superhero story filtered through the chaos of college life. The students have to figure out what their new abilities can do while simultaneously dealing with friendships, rivalries, relationships, classes, and the considerably more complicated question of what it actually means to be a hero.
The original series collected six issues and introduced characters including Wannabe, Puppeteer, Seductress, Intoxicator, Green Thumb, Squirrel, the Drama Twins, and the Beaver. The first collection also included the Freshmen Yearbook and additional material.
The anniversary edition allows Green and Sterbakov to revisit those characters from a whole new perspective.
The new Freshmen: 20th Anniversary Reunion Special jumps forward two decades, bringing the former classmates together for a reunion. With adulthood, old friendships, past relationships, and unfinished business now part of the equation, the special offers a chance to see what happened to the characters after their college adventures.

The original Freshmen was built around the idea of what would happen if a group of ordinary college students suddenly received extraordinary powers before they knew what to do with them. Now, twenty years later, the anniversary special gets to ask a whole new question: what happens when those same students have had twenty years to grow up?
Freshmen: 20th Anniversary Hardcover Edition is set to launch on Kickstarter on August 18.
