Announced back in March, the frequent collaborators of writer Jeff Lemire and artist Dustin Nguyen are reuniting for Robin & Batman: Jason Todd, a three-issue miniseries spotlighting the early days of the second, and often controversial, Robin. Today DC unveiled preview pages and covers for the first issue.

Having previously explored the early career of the original Robin, Dick Grayson, in the 2022 Robin & Batman miniseries, Lemire and Nguyen tackling Jason Todd is the logical next step. As teased in the original announcement, the new Robin & Batman: Jason Todd miniseries will introduce a mysterious new villain.

Any comic fan worth their salt is well aware of the infamous reputation of Jason Todd in the Batman mythology. Introduced in 1983 as a virtual carbon copy of Dick Grayson, Jason Todd’s time as Robin may have been brief, but there’s no denying it left a lasting impression. was brief but impactful. Following the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, Jason was given a new origin, that of an orphaned kid living on the streets who meets Batman after boosting the tires off of the Batmobile. In 1988 he was infamously killed via fan decree during the A Death in the Family storyline. This being comics, decades later he was later resurrected taking up the mantle of the Red Hood and has since gained newfound popularity.

In addition to the main cover by Dustin Nguyen, variant covers will also be available by series writer Jeff Lemire, Rafael Albuquerque and John McCrea & Mike Spicer. Lettering is by Steve Wands.
