This Wednesday, AWA Studios is releasing the trade paperback collected edition of Red Zone. The spy thriller is from the creative team of writer Cullen Bunn, artist, Mike Deodato, Jr., colorist Lee Loughridge, and letterer Steve Wands. Deodato and Loughridge also provide a cover.

Here’s what comic book legend Steranko has to say about it:

“A magnificent experiment! Deodato and Bunn are in tight control of every narrative aspect the comix medium engages, from working with photo reference to create docu-like imagery, to panel-to-panel breakdowns, to panel, page, and double-page compositions, to controlled coloring, to high-quality production. The works! Bravo!”

Read the synopsis for the comic below:

Called in by the U.S. government for a secret international mission to Russia, unassuming American professor of Russian and Slavic Studies at NYU Randall Crane finds his history in the Soviet Union begin to thaw and reveal itself. When the team of commandos sent to protect him end up dead, Randall finds himself forced to fight his way out of the former U.S.S.R. using skills he thought he’d left dead and buried in the cold, hard streets of the Mother Russia a lifetime ago.
