Rebellion have posted preview pages of the exclusive Judge Dredd story coming in this year’s August 14th 32-page Free Comic Book Day special – 2000AD Presents All Star Judge Dredd. The FCBD original Dredd tale will be by writer Al Ewing and artist Caspar Wijngaard.

The FCBD issue will feature the standalone Judge Dredd story alongside previews of forthcoming Dredd-verse collections (or reprints of recent stories, if you’re a regular 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine reader) – the badass Hershey spinoff, by Rob Williams and Simon Fraser, and dawn of the Dredd-verse prequel Dreadnoughts, by Michael Carroll and John Higgins.

The standalone Dredd story will be particularly significant as hotshot Marvel writer Ewing was once a hotshot Judge Dredd and 2000AD writer before he went Stateside to do things like Immortal Hulk and Mighty Avengers. This standalone tale is the first time he has written the character since (at least) 2015’s The Cop concluded in Judge Dredd Megazine #360.

Judge Dredd remains a signature character for British anthology title 2000AD, having appeared in every issue of the weekly since 1977’s second issue. The character was created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra.

The All Star Judge Dredd FCBD special was announced in March, with the publicity reading:

Rebellion is delighted to confirm that 2000 AD is returning to Free Comic Book Day in 2021 with an all-star Judge Dredd special issue!

2000 AD Presents All Star Judge Dredd will be a full colour 32-page issue dedicated to stories from the universe of the iconic future lawman Judge Dredd, with big name creators and previews of this autumn’s hottest graphic novels!

This issue will kick off with a bone-rattling all new stand-alone Dredd caper from superstar writer Al Ewing (Immortal Hulk) and artist Caspar Wijngaard (Star Wars)!

Plus, there will be teasers for the epic Fall 2021 graphic novels from Rebellion…
