On Wednesday, Panick Entertainment and Atomic Toybox launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new Attack of the Killer Tomatoes graphic novel. Today, The Beat can share a look at interior art by Bobby Timony.

Co-written by Metalshark Bro creators Bob Frantz and Kevin Cuffe and illustrated by Timony, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes follows a time-traveling soldier who attempts to stop a mad scientist and his mutant produce before it can render all of humanity extinct.

Here’s the full synopsis:

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes finds humanity on the brink of extinction in the year 2045, after decades under siege from Dr. Gangreen’s mutant produce. Alexander, a brave soldier in what remains of the human resistance, volunteers for a dangerous mission: go back in time to the year 2026 and take out Gangreen before he can unleash his ultimate tomato-based plans for world domination!

Meanwhile, back in 2045, the cybernetic tomato forces of Gangreen have salvaged the plans for the human resistance’s time machine and prepare to send their forces back in time to undermine Alexander and his desperate attempt to save humanity. The ultimate battle for tomato supremacy is about to begin!

“Now that fresh produce has made over 3,000 people sick in the last few weeks, we felt it was the right time to introduce a new book about everyone’s favorite fictional murderous veggies,” said PANICK Publisher Kris Longo. “Kidding aside, if you love insane, irreverent horror comedy, this book is for you. And yes, I know tomatoes are a fruit.”

“For nearly fifty years, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes has survived because it never takes itself too seriously while inviting every new generation to join the joke,” said Michael Polis, producer of the upcoming Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence movie. “This graphic novel captures that same irreverent spirit, but expands the mythology in unexpected ways with bigger action, higher stakes, and plenty of mutant mayhem. It’s exactly the kind of bold, imaginative storytelling we want to continue bringing to fans as the franchise enters an exciting new chapter.”

Kickstarter perks include paperback and hardcover editions, t-shirts, tomato plushies, art prints, and more. The campaign is live until Tuesday, August 11 at 5:25 p.m. ET.
