Shipping in November from Image/Skybound, Crude, Vol. 1 by Steve Orlando and Gary Brown collects #1-6 of the series of the same name. Crude is about a father learning about his son as tracks down his son’s killers.
Official PR follows and then a preview:
GLAAD Media Award-nominated writer Steve Orlando (VIRGIL, Midnighter) and artist Garry Brown (BLACK ROAD) will release CRUDE, VOL. 1—an emotional, bone-shattering account of murder, masculinity, and mayhem—this November from Image/Skybound.
Killers once feared Piotr Petrovich. Now, they’ve sent his son home to him in a body bag. Haunted by his failures, Piotr journeys across Russia to learn what type of man his son really was while hunting the bastards who killed him. And once Piotr finds them, they will learn to fear him once more…
CRUDE, VOL. 1 (Diamond code: SEP180081, ISBN: 978-1-5343-0861-9) hits comic book stores on Wednesday, November 21st and bookstores on Tuesday, November 27th.
Could develop pathos, and it’s up my alley. Representing life in Russia; that must be a hard job, I would think
The concept seems awfully tired (killer father avenging his son, really?), and the art is absolutely awful. What is happening to modern comics? Art is irrelevant now? A quick sketch of something is enough to convey mood and atmosphere? What about the love of the craft?
And seriously you want to sell us that typical American kitchen setting on the first page as something Russian? Please, do some research.
This is whole thing is so lazy it hurts.
