Planetoid creator Ken Garing is launching a new high fantasy series for teens this May.

Dubbed Gogor, the book is due out from Image Comics on May 1, with a final order cutoff deadline set for April 8. Gogor is billed as a “wonderfully weird and fantastical story,” and its about a young student fighting to protect the culture in a fantasy land alongside a presumably mythical companion named Gogor.

This new series marks a departure into new territory for Garing in a couple of ways. First of all, it’s not connected to Planetoid, his 2012 series about a space pirate who is stranded on a titular planetoid, where he is surrounded by galactic threats. Planetoid to date has been comprised of an initial five-issue miniseries as well as a follow-up, Planetoid: Praxis, that ran for another six.

So, Gogor marks a transition for Garing from sci-fi to fantasy. It also maybe takes aim at a slightly younger teen reader demographic, although one could make the case that Planetoid appeals to both adults and teens as well.

Critically acclaimed creator Ken Garing (Planetoid, Planetoid: Praxis) returns to Image Comics in time to launch an all-new high fantasy series titled Gogor this May.

The debut issues of Gogor will feature 28 pages of a wonderfully weird and fantastical story. Deep underground, among the floating islands of Altara, the mystical Gogor sleeps. But trouble brews aboveground as soldiers of the Domus impose their will across the land. Now, a young student named Armano must awaken Gogor and begin his quest to protect the culture of Altara.

Gogor #1 (Diamond Code MAR190024) will be available on Wednesday, May 1. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, April 8.

Gogor #1 will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.
