The first teaser trailer for Star Trek: Picard just dropped, and already has us wondering exactly what happened to the admiral after his final canon appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis. The streaming show is set to premiere later this year on CBS All Access.

A mysterious voice narrates over images of an older Jean-Luc who has apparently retired from Starfleet to his family’s vineyards in France. The female voice says, “Fifteen years ago, today, you led us out of the darkness. You commanded the greatest rescue armada in history. Then, the unimaginable. Tell us: why did you leave Starfleet, Admiral?”
The teaser leaves us wondering who is speaking and what incident she may be referring to. Is it something we’ve seen or is it a yet-to-be-revealed event that forced Picard into retirement?
No release date is set yet. but the series will also star Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Evan Evagora, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, and Isa Briones.
