The trailer for the Alfred Pennyworth-focused series, Pennyworth, has finally dropped in anticipation of its premiere next month on Epix. The series was brought to order last year.
The series stars Jack Bannon (Fury, The Imitation Game) as the titular character, with Ben Aldridge (Fleabag) appearing as his future employer Thomas Wayne. If the comics are anything to go by, the show will likely explore his time in the army and making use of his skills later in life.
Having Thomas Wayne appear in the show indicates that there will likely be some teases as to the future of Alfred’s relationship with the Waynes.
While the show is spinning out of Bruno Heller‘s FX series Gotham, Bannon seems to be channeling Michael Caine’s take on the character in the Dark Knight films rather than Gotham‘s own Sean Pertwee‘s interpretation of the character.
Check out the trailer and poster below. The series premieres July 28th on Epix.

  1. Well this looks pretty good! Jack Bannon sounds a bit too much like Michael Kane, but considering Kane was Alfred in some Batman movies I guess that’s the intention. And Paloma Faith as the villain!?! Mind boggling!
