The Nacelle Company panel always delivers at NYCC, in no small part because Brian Volk-Weiss is as big a fan as anyone in the room. If he’s excited about a launch (and he always is), it’s a good bet that he’s found the elusive combination that sends fans and collectors reaching for their credit cards. To wit, Nacelle’s Wave 1 Star Trek figures are in their fifth printing, and Volk-Weiss estimates they may be the best-selling Trek figures since the 90s.
Here’s what we took away from October 8th’s panel:
- Pre-sale for Wave 3 figures begins November 20th
- Volk-Weiss hopes Wave 2 figures will ship between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but he’s prioritizing quality over speed, so that timing may shift.
- Wave 2 Captain Kirk can sit on his horse. Volk-Weiss proclaimed, “If we’re late, twenty percent of why we’re late is that damn horse.”
- Expect figures galore in 2027! Nacelle hopes to release two waves and two exclusives next year, for a total of 22 figures.
- The panel revealed Wave 3 renders of Sulu and the Lucille Ball/Gene Roddenberry two-pack, showcasing the level of detail that Nacelle is known for.
- Sulu’s accessories include the ill-fated Alpha 177 canine (from “The Enemy Within”), a tricorder, a communicator, a phaser, and his feisty carnivorous plant, Gertrude (“The Man Trap”). “If you’re asking why there’s no sword,” Volk-Weiss seemed to tease, “ask me again in nine months.”

- Gene Roddenberry’s accessories include a gold captain’s chair, a typewriter, the original Star Trek script, alt hands in a Vulcan salute, and a U.S.S. Enterprise model similar to the one now on display at the MIT Museum through March 2027.

- Lucille Ball comes with her own original Star Trek script, a Desilu checkbook, and a pen. Though not pictured, Volk-Weiss also expects her to come with a director’s chair emblazoned with “Ball” on the back.

- Volk-Weiss also brought a section of the bridge set (Spock’s station), which is expected to go on pre-sale next year. The complete bridge will consist of 12 sections, priced at $60 each, and once assembled will measure about 3.5′ wide.
