Lucasfilm has released the trailer(s) for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, the spin-off anime series premiering on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 5.
Created by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell, Terminator Zero), The Ninth Jedi is a follow-up to the studio’s eponymous short from the first volume of Star Wars Visions (2021), and the third volume’s “The Ninth Jedi – Child of Hope” (2025). The series follows Lah Kara, the daughter of a missing lightsaber bladesmith, as she continues her search for her father, all while evading Jedi hunters. Like every installment of Visions, The Ninth Jedi is set outside of Star Wars canon, in a far future where the Jedi are rebuilding their order, and Kara’s father is the last sabersmith.
The show is directed by Shunsuke Tada, with original “Ninth Jedi” director Kenji Kamiyama attached as supervising director. The returning English dub voice cast includes Kimiko Glenn (as Kara), Andrew Kishino (Juro), Masi Oka (Ethan), Patrick Seitz (Homen), JP Karliak (Gramps), Simu Liu (Lah Zhima), and Neil Kaplan (The Narrator). New additions include Feodor Chin (Gennoh), Young Mazino (Nawaam), Chase Sui Wonders (Tafflah), and Keone Young (Kwana).
The Ninth Jedi will be available in its entirety on August 5. The trailer dropped while the first episode screened at Anime Expo, where Tada, Kamiyama, and producer Hitoshi Ito were in attendance.
