The first trailer for CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER is out, and it features lots of Chris Evans as Cap, of course, but also Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Sam Jackson as Nick Fury and introduces Anthony Mackie as The Falcon and teases the broody Twilight-refugee villain of the Winter Soldier. WHO IS HE???? For those who don’t know we won’t spoil it, although even those who haven’t read the comics can probably see it coming a mile away. Anyhoo, it’s brisk and full of action and oral brooding. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo say they’re inspired by ’70s spy thrillers, so hopefully that tone will come across.
They actually showed a longer clip of the whole elevator scene at the Diamond Breakfast at NYCC, and I think at the time I joked that Cap seemed to be facing the familiar threat of an overcrowded elevator. There don’t seem to be many laughs in this trailer, but since RDJ seems to have a lock on the “lighthearted caper” superhero films, this will do for now.
