Over at PWCW, The Beat files a wee story about yet another new graphic novel by a best-seling author:
ReganBooks is jumping into the graphic novel field with How to Make Money Like a Porn Star, a satirical graphic novel written by Neil Strauss and drawn by Bernard Chang. The story follows a young woman named Claudia Corvette as she discovers the ins and outs of the porn business. The book includes fake ads and puzzle pages, along with more traditional comics, to satirize both the porn industry and its addicted consumers.

This could turn out potentially insulting if it wasn’t well-researched. As someone with 5 or so years in that business, my first thought was: why is this coming from someone not in that arena?
I think Neil Strauss has made an in-depth study of porn! Anyway he knows Jenna Jameson.
lol well doesn’t that just give him the proverbial green light! ;) I dunno. I’m curious to give it a look-see, but the cover alone puts me off because it is such a misnomer. You read it already though? (or did I misunderstand some of what you said)
Yeah, I think Neil Strauss has the porn-and-pop-culture chops: he’s the co-author of Jenna Jameson’s autobiography HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORN STAR, Dave Navarro’s autobiography DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME, and the Motley Crüe “autobiography” THE DIRT, and (solo) writer of a book on the world of pick-up-artists–all of which were also published by ReganBooks.
I dunno about this graphic novel, but that just may be ‘cuz I’m a little de-sensitized to all the porn/erotica books coming from that publishing imprint.
