It’s been more than a month since new DC Super Hero Girls episodes aired on Cartoon Network. Fear not! New episodes of DC Super Hero Girls are back with weekend with new episodes and based on the descriptions, Lauren Faust and company.
Dex-Starr (or Dexter as was known during his time as a feline house pet on Earth) without a doubt has to be the breakout member of the Red Lantern Corps. It’s a safe bet that the fur will fly when he encounters activist Jessica Cruz, who just happens to be a member of the Green Lantern Corps.
In past interviews, Faust mentioned that the series took inspiration from Silver Age comics, citing them as the purest and simplest incarnations of the characters. Thus it’s rather appropriate that a Bizarro version of Supergirl, a concept that’s just the tip of the crazy stories during the Silver Age, appears in the show.
After debuting the cartoon teenage version of Oliver Queen a.k.a. Green Arrow (voiced by Eddie Perino) Ollie will be headlining his own episode aptly called “#DramaQueen” and receiving his own nemesis, Mortimer Drake/The Cavalier. A somewhat obscure DC Comics villain typically associated with Batman, Cavalier actually made a number of appearances in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series. It’s quite a stroke of genius of the show creators to pair two characters with a penchant for the dramatic.
Power Girl may have one of the most convoluted origins thanks to various retcons over the decades, but that hasn’t prevented the character’s popularity, particularly among the cosplay community. DCSHG is taking a more streamline approach, with Kara Danvers ditching the Supergirl moniker in favor of the “Power Girl.” Given Power Girl’s infamous chest window costume, it will be interesting to see the character design adapted for a show aimed at young girls.
