Everybody wants an exclusive cover these days.  The latest is an exclusive Neal Adams Return of Wolverine #1 cover that’s being billed as an eBay exclusive.

Says eBay:

“Ever since he first appeared on the comic book pages in 1974, Wolverine has become a fan favorite within the Marvel Universe,” said Sam Bright, Vice President of Soft Goods, eBay North America. “When approached about this opportunity to collaborate with legendary artist Neal Adams, we jumped at the chance to exclusively connect our 175 million buyers with this unique piece of comic book history.”

Says My Comic Shop:

  • “Neal Adams is an icon, a giant among comic artists known for his unforgettable covers, and we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Neal and eBay on this,” said Conan Saunders, Vice President at My Comic Shop. “Alongside the eBay-exclusive variant of Return of Wolverine #1 with cover by Adams, we will also be providing a large array of Wolverine and X-Men related collectible comics and books. Return of Wolverine #1 marks a new chapter for Wolverine, but readers and collectors will find plenty of older comics to fill in the gaps in their collections (or start new collections!)”

So how much of this is an eBay exclusive and how much is a My Comic Shop exclusive that just happens to only be listed on eBay?  I can’t really answer that, except that eBay corporate is definitely participating in the hype.

Looks like this is a 3000 print run item and as I type this, 385 copies have been sold.

  1. Love Neal Adams! The back cover is ebay and Marvel co-branded. ebay variant “available exclusively on ebay” by My Comic Shop. They’ve done a whole series of these together. A Marvel x ebay x My Comic Shop collaboration.

    In the same vein as San Diego Comic Con exclusives. Like a Dr Who Funko POP available exclusively at the BBC booth at the Con. SDCC exclusive sticker on the box etc.
