Just as the manga before it ended, we’re also nearing the end of the anime adaptation for megahit My Hero Academia later this year. But fear not! Fans will finally get an anime adaptation of the spin off series My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. Taking place five years before My Hero Academia, Vigilantes follows a group of heroes who operate on their own without hero licenses and outside agencies. The twist is, since vigilantes don’t have the training expected of individuals with people calling themselves heroes, they’re considered as dangerous as criminals. This means these characters have do their heroism on the down-low and can only rely on each other.

The manga ended back in 2022 but fans thirsting for more MHA should be more than satisfied with this series. Characters from the main series pop up throughout Vigilantes. and it may provide an origin or two for some of them. The series will begin streaming on April 7th and a trailer has dropped for this series. Check out the announcement below for more information.

Toho Co., Ltd. has unveiled a new trailer, key art, and opening theme artist for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, a brand new animated spinoff series that takes place before the events of the main My Hero Academia anime, based on the original manga created by Kohei Horikoshi. Debuting Monday, April 7, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide excluding Asia, with new episodes premiering weekly, same-day as Japan.

The new trailer reveals the opening theme song “Kekka Orai,” performed by Kocchi no Kento, best known for his viral song ”Hai Yorokonde”.

“My Hero Academia has captivated fans worldwide for nearly a decade, and now My Hero Academia: Vigilantes offers an exciting new perspective on the world this franchise loves. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with TOHO and bring this highly anticipated spinoff to audiences around the globe,” says Asa Suehira, Crunchyroll’s Chief Content Officer.

Based on the manga of the same name created by Hideyuki Furuhashi, Betten Court, and Kohei Horikoshi, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is directed by Kenichi Suzuki (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders; Cells at Work!). The series composition and script were written by Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia; Trigun). The animation is being produced by bones film (Gachiakuta).
