Beginning in June 2022, a new phase will begin for Moon Girl at Marvel Comics: along with her companion Devil Dinosaur, she’ll be starring in a series of one-shots that will feature team-ups with some of the biggest heroes Marvel has to offer… beginning with Spider-Man himself in Miles Morales and Moon Girl #1 by a creative team that includes Mohale Mashigo and Ig Guara, with a main cover by Alitha Martinez and a variant cover by Peach Momoko, arriving June 1st, 2022.
Action-Packed One-Shots
According to the the official Marvel press release announcing the new phase “Lunella Lafayette and her trusty T-rex sidekick, Devil Dinosaur will star in a series of new one-shots that will pair the super genius with some of Marvel’s biggest heroes. These action-packed adventures will see the fan-favorite hero on a grand tour of the Marvel Universe as she uses her intellect to save the day alongside with the Avengers, the X-Men, and more. With a brand-new solo series on the horizon, these one-shot issues will further cement Moon Girl’s prominence in the Marvel mythos while also providing perfect entry points for readers curious to learn more about the young hero.”
Marvel states that readers should stay tuned for more details about Miles Morales and Moon Girl #1, the future team-up one-shots on the way, and the upcoming Moon Girl solo series.
Prehistory Comes Alive
Devil Dinosaur was created by Jack Kirby and first appeared in 1978’s Devil Dinosaur #1 (also by Mike Royer and Petra Goldberg).
Meanwhile, Lunella Lafayette (a.k.a. Moon Girl) first appeared in 2016’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 by Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, Natacha Bustos, Tamra Bonvillain, and Travis Lanham. The series ran for 47 issues and also featured contributions by Gustavo Duarte, Ray-Anthony Height, and Martinez.
And just for good measure, Miles Morales first appeared in 2011’s Ultimate Comics: Fallout #4 (lettered by Cory Petit & Clayton Cowles), in the story “Spider-Man” by Brian Michael Bendis, Sara Pichelli, and Justin Ponsor.
