Knock knock, Neo – the Matrix still has you! On December 22nd, 2021, the seminal series created by Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski will be returning with a fourth entry, to be released simultaneously in movie theaters and for streaming on HBO Max. Here at Stately Beat Manor, we can’t wait for The Matrix 4… so we’re kicking off our extensive, in-depth coverage now!

“Welcome back, Mr. Anderson – we missed you…”

The Matrix was released on March 31st, 1999, followed by the concurrently produced sequels The Matrix Reloaded on May 15th, 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions on November 5th, 2003.

Does anyone else have a sudden craving for Powerade…?

The as-of-yet officially untitled fourth movie will be released in both movie theaters and on HBO Max on December 22nd (You can subscribe to HBO Max at this link. Note this is an affiliate link and The Beat may receive a small commission if you subscribe).

In August 2019, it was announced that Lana Wachowski would be returning to direct the sequel (Lilly Wachowski will apparently not be returning). Lana will co-write The Matrix 4 with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell, and she will be co-producing with Grant Hill.

Stars Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), Keanu Reeves (Neo), and Jada Pinkett Smith (Niobe) will be returning, along with new additions Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Neil Patrick Harris.

MATRIX 404

Futurama was one of the first – but far from the last – to pay homage to The Matrix.

In the months leading up to the release of The Matrix 4, you can expect MATRIX 404 to deliver features on the original trilogy, information about the comics and movies that influenced the Wachowskis, and examination of the cultural impact of the movies.

We’ll also look at The Matrix content outside of the original trilogy of movies, including The Animatrix animated anthology, the video games, the websites (designed by Spencer Lamm’s Redpill Productions), The Matrix Revisited, and MORE to make sure we’ve uploaded every possible angle when The Matrix 4 arrives on December 22nd, 2021. Stay tuned to The Beat to make sure you’re keeping yourself in the Infinite Loop!
