Darth Vader is many things. In A New Hope he’s a stooge for Grand Moff Tarkin; in The Empire Strikes Back he’s the ultimate bad guy; and in Return of the Jedi he’s a conflicted father wrestling with his inner goodness. Within the Star Wars universe, though, one’s impression of Vader likely depends on, as Obi-Wan Kenobi might put it, a certain point of view.

Enter Star Wars: Vader – Dark Visions, a new five-issue miniseries from Marvel highlighting those different interpretations and facets of the former Anakin Skywalker, from the perspective of those who come into contact with him. Written by Dennis Hopeless and featuring covers by Greg Smallwood and interior art on the first two issues by Paolo Villanelli (issue #1) and Brian Level (issue #2), each issue of the series will present a standalone Vader story that sheds new light on the character’s role and impact on the citizens of the galaxy far, far away.

Check out Smallwood’s covers for the first two issues, as well as some additional detail on the miniseries in the press release, below. the first issue of Star Wars: Vader – Dark Visions is set to hit stores in March.
