As announced last month, the first Marvel/DC crossover in decades will launch with much anticipated Deadpool/Batman. The one-shot will feature a main story written by Zeb Wells and drawn by Greg Capullo with additional backup stories by various all-star comic creators. Fans have been wondering what other Marvel/DC crossover stories they can look forward to and today we got our answer.
Backup stories in the one-shot will include Daredevil and Green Arrow by Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert, Captain America and Wonder Woman by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson, and Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru. Each story will be reflected by its own variant cover. Today, fans can check out the Daredevil/Green Arrow cover by acclaimed Daredevil artist Marco Checchetto and the Jeff the Land Shark/Krypto cover by Gurihiru. Plus, feast your eyes on an epic wraparound variant cover by Capullo.
“We’re going to all corners of the Marvel and DC Universes, and the creators are having an absolute blast finding the unexpected and unexplored connections between these characters. We can’t wait for the fans to experience the same jaw-dropping moments we are! And we’ve got some more secret stories in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for more to be revealed!”
As comic fans are well, filmmaker Kevin Smith is no stranger to either the Man without Fear or the Emerald Archer having written acclaimed runs for both characters with the storylines “Guardian Devil” and “Quiver.” So it’s rather fitting he pen the first crossover between both characters.
Chip Zdarsky meanwhile is launching a new Captain America title next month. So it’s likewise appropriate he pen the two patriotic heroes from the publishers. He offered the following:
“This has been surreal to say the least!” Zdarsky said. “Captain America and Wonder Woman are the best their worlds have to offer, both warriors for peace. Getting to explore a dynamic and history between them has been genuinely exciting.”
It’s no exaggeration to say Jeff the Land Shark has become Marvel’s breakout character in the last few years going on to appear in outside media, most notably Marvel Rivals. Meanwhile, Superman’s super canine Krypto has seen a resurgence in popularity thanks in large part to the upcoming Superman film. So this crossover was a no-brainer. According to writer Kelly Thompson:
“Two ICONS meeting for the first time!” Thompson said. “It’s such an honor for Jeff to get to be Marvel’s ambassador in this crossover story with Krypto. Anyone who loves comics knows how rare it is for DC and Marvel to crossover, so Jeff getting to be part of this historic moment with Krypto, and Gurihiru and I getting to bring that tale to readers… well, sometimes this job is very cool.”
Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1 arrives on September 17th, 2025.
Nice, really nice. And Great Creative Teams for all Stories.
