BOOM! Studios has announced Luna, a dark and erotic five-issue comic by creator Maria Llovet, the first issue of which will be available in February 2021.
Luna, which is set in the 1960s, follows the story of Theresa, a young woman who finds herself at the enigmatic commune of the Family of the Sun. At first, she assumes the cult is the same as any other sect centered on charismatic leader who claims to have supernatural connections. But as she discovers more of their rampant drug use and secret blood rituals, she begins to suspect something else is afoot. Soon, she’s wrapped up in intrigue that incorporates eternal life and never-ending love.
Llovet is a Barcelona-based multidisciplinary artist. Her previous experience includes illustrating Faithless, written by Brian Azzarello and also published by BOOM! Studios, and she’s also responsible for the erotic horror comic Heartbeat. In addition, Llovet is the creator of the graphic novels Loud and There’s Nothing There.
The five issue comic will begin publishing in February, when you can pick up the first issue at your local comic shop, or through the official BOOM! Studios webstore.

When Teresa fatefully crosses paths with the Family of the Sun, she believes them to be exactly what anyone else in the late ‘60s would expect – a hippie cult whose leader claims to have met the divine. But secret blood rituals, powerful drugs and sex runneth amok will bring Teresa face-to-face with the truth about the Family, herself and the dark secret behind her dreams.
Maria Llovet is a multidisciplinary artist from Barcelona, who has published several graphic novels, including There’s Nothing There and Loud. Llovet is currently the artist on Brian Azzarello’s series Faithless from BOOM! Studios. Her illustrations have been characterized by cinematic influences in its visual narrative, with sex and death as central themes permeating her work.
