DC Comics has released a preview of the first seven unlettered pages for Man-Bat #1. The six-issue miniseries is written by Dave Wielgosz, with art by Sumit Kumar and Romulo Fajardo Jr. and letters by Tom Napolitano. The series finds Kirk Langstrom once again having transformed into the creature known as Man-Bat, and embarking on a rampage that puts him in the sights not only of Batman and the GCPD, but also the Suicide Squad.
The first seven pages of the issue appear to feature Langstrom’s wife leaving him after discovering the Man-Bat serum in their home. After Langstrom takes the serum and transforms into Man-Bat, he takes on a group of thieves before encountering the Dark Knight. So things are already not going great for him.
First appearing in 1970’s Detective Comics #400, Man-Bat was created by Frank Robbins, Julius Schwarz, and Neal Adams. The character has starred in a number of solo series over the years, from a title that ran for two issues in the late ’70s to a mid-’00s five-issue miniseries.
