Archie Comics has announced the newest addition to their line of horror comics, a one-shot starring the Queen of Hell herself. Madam Satan will spin out of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series, and find the titular character attempting to dethrone the Devil to become the sole ruler of the underworld. The issue is written by Eliot Rahal, with art by Julius Ohta and Matt Herms, and letters by Jack Morelli, with a main cover by Ohta and a variant by CAOS artist Robert Hack.

Rahal’s resume crosses genres from superhero adventure to hard-boiled crime, with work for Valiant, Aftershock, and Vault Comics, among others. I’m not familiar with Ohta’s work before this book (primarily on books for Dynamite), but his cover for Madam Satan is beautiful, and I’m interested to see his interiors paired with Herms’s colors.

I wanted to honor her and make it meaningful. The real hero is the artwork as Julias Ohta, Matt Herms and Jack Morelli bring Hell to life.
