Kiss of Death, a new villain with a skull for a head because comics, will make her debut in next month’s issue of Lois Lane by Greg Rucka and Mike Perkins.

Kiss of Death is also an assassin, and she has a lipstick outline on her forehead (again, because comics). According to a preview from the good folks at DC publicity, she is targeting Lois Lane in the wake of the revelation that her husband is Superman and her son is Superboy (as revealed to the world in Superman #18). If previous issues are any indication, the only thing standing between Lois and certain death will be the Renee Montoya version of The Question. Exciting!

Personally, this comic is one of my favorite things at DC right now, even with an above-average number of continuity happenings for its more subdued story to incorporate. Anyway, the book is due to hit shops on Feb. 5, and you can check out a character design for Kiss of Death below after the jump, along with some uncolored interior artwork and both covers, the regular by series artist Perkins and a very cool variant by Karmome Shirahama.

Enjoy!

As the world comes to realize Lois Lane is also the wife of Superman and mother of Superboy, the DC Universe’s most acclaimed reporter finds herself hunted by a deadly assassin code-named the Kiss of Death. The only thing standing between Lois and execution is the Question, but can Renee Montoya stop the Kiss before she fulfills her contract?

“The scariest aspect to the Kiss of Death is she’s only got eyes for Lois,” says DC Group Editor Jamie Rich. “Most deadly assassins fixate on one target, sure, but this is extreme. Not to mention, Lois is trying get by without her superpowered husband’s help. We all know Lois can take care of herself, but this one might even be too dangerous for her.”
