Publisher Levine Querido will present Darcie Little Badger and Jasmine Walls at San Diego Comic-Con 2023!

Darcie Little Badger

Darcie is a Special Guest at SDCC ’23. According to the press release,
 
“Levine Querido is delighted to announce her upcoming novel, Sheine Lende (on sale April 2024), the highly anticipated prequel to Darcie’s bestselling, award-winning debut novel ElatsoeSheine Lende tells the story of Elatsoe’s grandmother’s childhood, as she sets off on the road to solve the mystery of her mother, who disappeared after a strange interaction with a fairy ring.”
 
As also detailed in the press release,
 
“Darcie Little Badger is a Lipan Apache writer with a PhD in oceanography. Her critically acclaimed debut novel, Elatsoe, was featured in TIME as one of the best 100 fantasy books of all time. Elatsoe also won the Locus award for Best First Novel and was a finalist for the Nebula, Ignyte, and Lodestar Awards. Her second fantasy novel, A Snake Falls to Earth, received the Newbery Honor, was a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize, and was longlisted for the National Book Awards. Darcie is married to a veterinarian named Taran.”
 
Darcie will be speaking at SDCC ’23 at the panels Welcome to Fantasy Land (Thursday, 7/20, 10am @ Room 9), Spotlight on Darcie Little Badger (Friday, 7/21, 4pm @ Room 28DE), and What’s the Best Superpower? (Saturday, 7/22, 10:30am @ Room 10). 

Jasmine Walls

Jasmine’s graphic novel Brooms (with illustrator Teo DuVall) is scheduled for publication in October 2023. Brooms “brings readers into an alternate magical history of the US South, telling the story of a team of trailblazing broom-racing witches.”

“Jasmine Walls is a writer, artist, and editor with former lives in professional baking and teaching martial arts. She still bakes (though she’s pretty rusty at martial arts) and has a deep love for storytelling, creating worlds, and building tales about the characters who inhabit them. She has works published with DC, Webtoon, Boom! Studios, Capstone, Oni Press, The Atlantic, and The Nib. Her graphic novel The Last Session was one of the NYPL’s 50 Best Books for Teens in 2022, and is on YALSA’s Great Graphic Novels for Teens list. She lives in California with two dogs and a large stash of quality hot chocolate.”
 
Jasmine will be speaking at the programs Unstoppable Forces (Friday, 7/21, 4pm @ San Diego Central Library) and Creators Assemble (Saturday, 7/22, 4pm @ Marriott Marquis Marina D).
