10 years after it first debuted in Lego form, Lego announced today at Star Wars Celebration that Princess Leia’s iconic ship, the Tantive IV is returning in 2019! The ship is one of the most beloved vehicles in the Star Wars saga. It fled from Darth Vader’s Imperial Star Destroyer in the opening scene of the original Star Wars. The Lego ship is big! It measures just over 2 feet long.

Tantive IV originally saw release as a Lego set in 2009. That set is hard to find, with eBay prices going for well above its original retail price. Now fans will be able to own a new and improved version of the ship. The new Lego model dutifully recreates the iconic Rebel ship down to the last detail. This includes an elongated hull, detachable escape pods, cargo hold, and 11 massive engines at the back. The set includes more than 1,750 pieces and 6 minifigs, including Princess Leia, Bail Organa, Captain Antilles, a Rebel Fleet Trooper, C-3P0 and R2-D2. The Bail Organa figures is all-new for 2019, as is Princess Leia’s skirt piece.

The Tantive IV features some cool features, including a radar dish that doubles as a handle. And it also features firing missiles.

But best of all? Droid escape pod!!

Tantive IV is only one of the major announcements from Lego to come out of Star Wars Celebration. They also broke a Guinness World Record with Stormtrooper minifigs and displayed other new sets. If you are at Celebration this weekend, be sure to check out the full Lego display at booth 1616.
