There’s a little less than two months left in the ongoing celebration of Batman’s 80th anniversary, and LEGO has unveiled their latest doozy of an offering for the festivities. A new set will faithfully recreate the Batmobile as featured in the Tim Burton-directed Batman movies of 1989 and 1992. The 3,306-piece set will include movie-accurate detailing, plus minifigures of Batman, The Joker, and Vicki Vale.

The display included in the set for the minifigures recreates the location of the final showdown between Batman and The Joker, a ledge high atop the Gotham Cathedral. The Joker’s gun is a little shorter than the one we see him use in the film, unless that’s the gun he borrowed from Bob. The Batman figure’s cowl being attached to the chestpiece/cape so he can’t turn his head is a really nice touch.

LEGO also released a short video preview of the set, which highlights the intricacies and details of the collector set:

While LEGO has produced multiple Batmobile sets since they began putting out Batman-themed products back in 2006, this is the first one to accurately depict the Dark Knight’s signature ride as designed by concept artist Julian Caldow. It doesn’t appear that the LEGO set includes the OnStar button on the dash, though Alfred installed that after Batman Returns so I suppose that makes sense.

Also somewhat notably missing from this set is the ‘shields’ cocoon Batman places over the Batmobile in the first film. It’s likely only a matter of time before some intrepid collector comes up with their own recipe for that piece and shares it with the world. I’d also guess a fan-made Batmissile won’t be far behind the release of this set, either.

Check out a few more images from the set below, or head over to the LEGO site to see even more. With a retail price of $249.99, the LEGO 1989 Batmobile is due out in stores and online on Black Friday, November 29th.
