Wolf-Man 01 Cover 500W72 hour, five cities, one comic book and one comic book writer: Robert Kirkman rides the whirlwind to promote THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN, kicking off with a midnight signing (is this the new fad?):

Comics industry superstar Robert Kirkman is going on a five-city, seventy-two hour tour to promote the debut of his new comic book series, THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN. The tour takes place over the weekend of May 5th, Free Comic Book Day. Fans in New York City, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area can meet the writer of WALKING DEAD, ULTIMATE X-MEN and INVINCIBLE and get FREE copies of THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #1!

“For Kirkman’s first new creator-owned series in four years, we’re doing something big,” says Director of Marketing Mark Haven Britt. “You get an awesome new FREE comic, you get to meet Robert in person, AND you get to meet him when he’s delirious from sleep deprivation and cross country flights! Come on by! It’s gonna be a hoot!”

THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN chronicles the life of workaholic CEO Gary Hampton. While on a rare family vacation, he’s bitten by a werewolf. Cursed to live his nights as a monster, Gary works to use these evil powers for the greater good. The story is part superhero, part horror and a whole lot of fun.

  1. Big Deal. Michael Crichton once did FOUR cities in ONE day, and he started at 9 AM, not Midnight. He started in New York City; then signed at my bookstore in Washington, DC; then Chicago and Los Angeles. This was back when Twister was just released, as well as ER, and I think the book was Lost World. So to save himself some time, he did one day of book signings.

Still, kinda cool to do Free Comic Book Day at Midnight.

  2. Phil Collins once did two shows in two different cities during Live Aid. He did a show in London and then flew via Concorde to Philly to do another set on the very same day.

And this was back in ’86.

    Nothing to see here, folks.

  3. Boy, what a couple of grumps. It’s nice to see some publicity stunts for a new comic. Mr. Kirkman had some pages on display over at comicbookresources.com and it looks like a fun comic.
