Magic: the Gathering is coming to the climax of it’s latest major conflict– the multiverse lies within Phyrexia’s grasp. Elesh Norn, the Mother of Machines and leader of a species whose sole purpose is to absorb every living thing into its singular vision of perfection, is preparing to go to war. And after several years of game expansions that hinted at her machinations, fans of the game will finally get to see the Phyrexians on their home plane with the release of Phyrexia: All Will Be One.

Today, Magic developer Wizards of the Coast gave players a first look at Phyrexia: All Will Be One ahead of the set’s release on February 10th, 2023. With that reveal comes a taste of some of the new cards the set will have to offer, alongside special art treatments that will have everyone wishing for the blessing of Elesh Norn.

Earlier this year, Junji Ito made his Magic debut with the release of the “Special Guest: Junji Ito” secret lair. The acclaimed Japanese manga artist will return to Magic with his own special rendition of the Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines card, available in the Phyrexia: All Will Be One expansion. In addition to Ito, other mangaka will showcase their own artist talents on special card treatments for select Phyrexian cards yet to be revealed, as well as on “reimaginations” for some of the heroes resisting Phyrexia’s influence.

According to a press release, Phyrexia: All Will Be One will feature 10 planeswalkers whose cards will showcase the planes of the Multiverse at threat in the war against Elesh Norn’s army. One of these heroes is Koth, a denizen of Mirrodin, the plane New Phyrexia first colonized as their base of operations.Old faces from New Phyrexia/Mirrodin return in Phyrexia: All Will Be One. Phyrexian Obliterator was a marquee card from 2010’s New Phyrexia exansion, so its reprint is sure to give machineheads a great deal of joy. And not to be left out, but Jor Kadeen and Slobad are receiving new renditions as well.

Phyrexia: All Will Be One will showcase the warped landscapes of the plane through three different basic land treatments, ranging from the standard…

…to the abstract horror of Phyrexian tableaus.

And if that wasn’t enough, players lucky enough to pick up a “Complete Edition” of the Phyrexia: All Will Be One bundle on March third will receive special “oil slick” treatments of Elesh Norn and the basic land cards.

There is no escaping Phyrexia’s majesty. In two short months, all will be one.
