EW’s 2nd annual Comic-Con issue is hitting stands, with a preview of IRON MAN 2. That’s Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow joining RDJ’s Tony Stark. Here’s a close-up of ScarJo crawling around.

  1. Very dark blue and black are similar colors. Maybe it has to do with the lighting. ;)

And I have to give credit. Scarlett in a tight (I assume) outfit and nary a pic of her ample bust or other goodies on display?!?!?? O.o

What. Is. This. World. Coming. To.
    ;D

  2. Much as I love Scarlett, she’s not the right actress for this part. But when has Hollywood ever done what’s right when it comes to adapting characters from other mediums?

Well, OK—there WAS Ron Perlman as Hellboy…

I would suggest that Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man comes to mind.

Scarlett doesn’t look entirely right to me, and it’s a bit of a tragedy that the G.I. Joe movie essentially co-opted the Black Widow’s look for… well, Scarlett. But I think she deserves a chance, and I think that Favreau has earned a certain amount of trust.

  4. I think the people ripping on Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow are the very same people that ripped on the idea of Heath Ledger as The Joker before THE DARK KNIGHT came out.

Wait until the movie comes out and if you still don’t like her as Black Widow after seeing it, feel free to gripe to your fanboy heart’s content.

Thanks, but I’ll gripe now. Scarlett doesn’t look like the Black Widow. I liked Michael Keaton as Batman, hated Heath Ledger as the Joker, and knew the Spirit was gonna suck.

and … Scarlett doesn’t look like the Black Widow.

    There. Done.

  6. Funny. I first remember Scarlett Johansson in the comic book film Ghost World. Now she’s Black Widow.. and married to Green Lantern and (hopefully still) Deadpool. (I’ll just ignore her in The Spirit.. or ignore everything else in the movie because she was fun in it). Really not seeing pro or con her cast as Black Widow, but she looks good. And.. ha.. she does look a little bit like Anna Mercury.

  7. @ Charles Skaggs

Can we at least rip on her two-steps-below-a-Top-Model-makeover wig that they’ve given her and feel good about it?
