Gaming’s most brutal fighting game franchise is continuing a narrative saga which began at the end of Mortal Kombat X when Raiden turned to a darker side. This April, Ed Boon and NetherRealm continue to mine Outworld with Mortal Kombat 11. Today, WB Games released a trailer bringing back a key character from MKX, Kotal Kahn.
Kotal Kahn is an Osh-Tekk warrior and Emperor of Outworld. Years ago, Kotal saved the Empire from chaos and claimed the throne of Kahn. Now his reign is plagued by rising tensions at home and abroad. Determined to keep order, Kotal wrestles with the temptation to exercise the same brutal tactics as his predecessors. Kotal summons the power of the sun to strengthen his abilities against his opponents. Additionally, a more in-depth look at the fighting style of Kotal Kahn’s opponent, Jacqui Briggs, is showcased in the trailer with her implementing experience as a competitive fighter trained in kickboxing and martial arts.
Kotal Kahn joins the growing roster of playable Mortal Kombat 11 fighters, alongside Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Baraka, Geras, Kano, D’Vorah, Kabal, Jade, Johnny Cage, Cassie Cage, Erron Black, and Jacqui Briggs.
Mortal Kombat 11 comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 23, 2019. For those who pre-order from select retailers access to a closed Beta test will be available on March 28 for PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
