Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), a film title so annoyingly long I have to copy/paste it, has been in the midst of filming the past few weeks under the direction of Cathy Yan. And while details are a bit scarce currently, the rumors are that its kicked off by Batman’s disappearance – leaving Gotham open to crime. A now single Harley Quinn then comes across Cassandra Cain, after the young orphan has run afoul of Black Mask, and teams with Renee Montoya, Black Canary and Huntress to protect her.
Or at least that’s what one quick wikipedia search tells me. What we do know for sure is that it stars Margot Robbie, back in her Suicide Squad role, along with Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, and Ella Jay Basco. Also, Ewan McGregor is Black Mask and Chris Messina is Zsasz, marking the live action debut of the former and perhaps a more depth-filled turn for the latter this time around.
Robbie, this morning, dropped the first picture of herself in full costume and makeup. Does that dogtag say Bruce? Nice nod to the comics!
Birds of Prey releases on February 7th of next year.
