Groo, the comedic barbarian creation of legendary cartoonist Sergio Aragonés, is back, and this time he’s…a god? Dark Horse Comics has announced Groo: Gods Against Groo, a new four-issue series from writer/artist Aragonés, co-writer Mark Evanier, colorist Carrie Strachan, and letterer Stan Sakai.

Groo Gods Against Groo #1

Here’s how Dark Horse describes the new series:

The bumbling barbarian Groo has made quite a name for himself, traveling the land and cleaving a path of destruction and cheese dip. He is either so greatly feared or favored wherever he goes, Groo’s earthly reputation causes a Groo deity to arise in the heavens! While Earthbound Groo hungers, his Divine Groo alter ego unleashes chaos! Plus, Sergio’s legendary back cover Rufferto strips return!

Gods Against Groo is the latest Groo series to be published by Dark Horse Comics. Most recently, Evanier and Aragonés told the tale of Groo meeting the King of the Jungle himself, Tarzan, in a four-issue series illustrated by Thomas Yeates and Tom Luth and lettered by Sakai.

Can the realm of the gods survive a Divine Groo? Find out on December 21st when Groo: Gods Against Groo #1 (of 4) arrives in stores and digitally.
