Official PR follows;

Dynamite Entertainment is set to premiere a book for the ages as comics legend Jean-Marc Lofficier (Moebius, Doctor Strange) and artist José Louis Ruiz Pérez (Tiger and the Eye) take Barbarella on an epic adventure in this oversized 48-page holiday special.

All aboard the Barbarella Cosmic Express for an intergalactic tale of Christmas and…murder?! Hélas, c’est vrai! Someone’s been given the ultimate gift, and jolly old St. Nick must figure out by whom. Enter the space siren for all holidays, Barbarella! Guest-starring France’s Hexagon Comics’ super-patriot hero: The Guardian of the Republic.

The Barbarella universe as invented by Jean-Claude Forest and developed by Mike Carey, is a sci-fi one, so this “Santa” is not a fantasy creature, but a galactic entrepreneur named Niklaus Von Klaus, mildly obsessed with Xmas, who turned an entire planet into an Xmas-themed amusement park. Initially intended for children, the park has now become a lawless rendezvous point for all kinds of shady character,” remarked writer Jean-Marc Lofficier. “This book is the first crossover comics to feature a character from the French Hexagon Comics universe since Witchblade-Phenix-Sibilla: Blood Oath published by Top Cow in 2003, which I also wrote.”

“It’s such a pleasure to be working with Jean-Marc directly on this holiday special. We took great care to bring Barbarella back into comics and Jean-Marc has been an integral part of the process,” said Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite Entertainment. “This book is really a lot of fun. It’s got great holiday spirit and I hope fans old and new add it to their pull list for December!”

Barbarella was created by Jean Claude Forest in 1962 at the heart of the Sexual Revolution and is forever ingrained in pop culture after Jane Fonda’s unforgettable portrayal in the 1968 cult-classic film. In 2017, Dynamite Entertainment published the first Barbarella comic in 35 years to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the character.

The Barbarella Holiday Special will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ October 2018 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in December 2018. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies of the Barbarella Holiday Special with their local comic book retailers. The Barbarella Holiday Specialwill also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.
