Dark Horse Comics has revealed Invasive Species, a new series created by writer Frank Miller, in collaboration with artist Ryan Benjamin (Batman Beyond), inker John Livesay, colorist Alex Sinclair, and letterer Pete Carlsson. While details weren’t provided on the book, fans will be able to check out art from the book at a signing from Miller, Benjamin, and Sinclair at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 25.
Invasive Species will mark the first of several new books from Miller, 69, at Dark Horse. His last comic at the publisher, the 300 prequel and sequel Xerxes: The Fall of the House of Darius and the Rise of Alexander, was released in 2018. In the interim, he founded his own imprint, Frank Miller Presents, which announced a publishing deal with Abrams Comics in 2024.
Invasive Species was intended to make its debut at Abrams in January 2025, before the publisher’s plans to venture into the single-issue market fizzled out. A synopsis provided at the time read, “Little Becky could fight the aliens if she could just get them out of her brain! Frank Miller, Ryan Benjamin, John Livesay, Alex Sinclair and Pete Carlsson bring the classic Alien Invasion story to a little town just like yours. The aliens are not OUT there, they’re IN there.”
Tim Wiesch, the newly promoted Head of Publishing and Business Development at Dark Horse, says, “Any day you get to personally announce a new Frank Miller book is already amazing but when you get to add Ryan Benjamin and Alex Sinclair to the mix it becomes one for the ages. I can’t wait for fans to see what they’re doing in the new book Invasive Species and folks at SDCC will be the first to see it!”
In the meantime, Miller, Benjamin and Sinclair will appear at Dark Horse’s SDCC booth (#2615) on Saturday from 5-6:30 p.m. PT. Miller’s new autobiography, Push the Wall: My Life, Writing, Drawing and the Art of Storytelling, is also available now from Simon & Schuster.
