GamesRadar+ is reporting that former publisher Jud Meyers has been terminated from IDW.

“IDW Publishing has parted ways with Jud Meyers and would like to thank everyone for their discretion,” was the statement from IDW.

Meyers was named to the position of publisher on July 23rd.

Five days later, on July 28th, it was announced that he was going on administrative leave and Jerry Bennington would step into the role of publisher.

And now, 10 days after that, we can confirm that he has been terminated from IDW altogether.

Meyers started at IDW as Sales Director after a stint at Humanoids and a long period in comics retail. However, as we reported, he had been sued for a variety of financial issues by his former retail partner. I’m also told that Meyers’ appearances at retailer meetings in his IDW position were met with hostility over his past behavior and that there were some issues with how he framed his past positions. According to a report at Bleeding Cool, Meyers’ last comics shop, Blastoff Comics, closed owing Diamond $35,000, leading to further tensions.

It appears that Bennington will continue on as Publisher and President, while IDW will be announcing a new VP of sales very soon.

The executive shuffle caps a very transitional period for IDW that saw longtime EIC and publisher Chris Ryall stepping away, after his own departure and return.

Sounds like there could be something else as well given that statement at IDW. We just need Baghdad Bob, I mean Mark Waid with the defense of Jud now.
