Undone by Blood or the Other Side of Eden #4 is the final issue of the metafictional western comic from AfterShock, out this week.
And today The Beat has an exclusive preview of this long-awaited finale, including four interior pages that give readers the first glimpse of the last issue. The book is written by the team of Lonnie Nadler and Zac Thompson, with artwork by Sami Kivelä, colors by Jason Wordie, and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. While this is the fourth issue of the current volume, this book is actually a sequel series, with its predecessor being titled Undone by Blood or the Shadow of a Wanted Man.
This book has been great from start to finish, with a tone that falls somewhere between Cormac McCarthy and pulp westerns, all cadged around a concept that involves metafiction. There’s been some great examples of comics that explore the nature of stories, their impact on our lives, and how narrative can make tangible differences in the real world — and this book is among the best of them. It will be missed, but, hey, what a run!
Check out the full credits, solicitation text, and our four exclusive interior preview pages below! The book, as noted, is out this coming Wednesday via publisher AfterShock Comics.
