Statix Press, the imprint of Titan Comics dedicated to bringing European books to the UK and US markets, has been pretty busy lately. We ran a bunch of exclusive announcements and previews to coincide with their appearance at Angoulême a few weeks ago. Now they’re packing up for ComicsPRO in Portland next week, where they’ll no-doubt be interfacing with comics retailers to talk about their upcoming Statix release schedule.

We’ve got the scoop on three of those upcoming releases, and we’ll be posting exclusive announcements from Statix today through Thursday. Up first: on May 30th, 2021: Lost Children will be released. Statix describes the 56-page album as “Escape from New York meets the X-Men.”

Penned by French comic writer Stéphane Betbeder and illustrated by artist Stéphane Bervas, the comic exists in a world where the city of Detroit has succeeded from the United States. From Statix:

It’s citizens are under the control of a madman with extraordinary abilities. The only hope of retaking the city lies with four superpowered children. But their powers come with a price – using them means aging prematurely. Can they save the city before their powers use up their lives?

Betbeder dabbled in experimental films before finding his way to comics, where he’s worked on a slew of different albums over the years. He’s proved somewhat versatile in terms of genre, writing stories that cover everything from the further adventures of Dr. Watson to Dogma: a thriller with religious overtones set in modern Mississippi.

We’ve got three pages of 2021: Lost Children for you to check out below, as well as the two covers you’ll have to choose from. Stay tuned tomorrow for the next of our Statix exclusive announcements.
