On June 17, Comixology Originals will debut the trippy psychological thriller Ill Vacation, and today, The Beat has an exclusive preview of Chapter 3 of the upcoming graphic novel. Written by Steve Thompson, illustrated by Gonzalo Ruggieri, and lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, Ill Vacation follows two soldiers in 1940s South Pacific who agree to a drug experiment to help the war effort… then face the terrifying consequences of that choice.

Two soldiers left behind to defend a Pacific island receive an experimental drug designed to turn them into unbeatable fighting machines. Instead, it turns their past trauma and nightmares into reality. Now strange lights appear in a blood-red sky, a giant eye floats in the air and unearthly creatures emerge from the sea to haunt them inside an ever-growing maelstrom of terror.
