Justice League #39, which is due out next week, marks the end of writer Scott Snyder‘s tenure at the helm of DC’s flagship team title — and he’s ending in epic fashion.

That issue — which is illustrated by artists Jorge Jimenez, Daniel Sampere, and Juan Albarran with colors by Alejandro Sanchez and Hi-Fi — will follow a Justice League that has been stranded at the end of the universe in the aftermath of the Justice/Doom War…which was not the happy slam dunk victory for the League one might have guessed it would be. Indeed, while Martian Manhunter has returned from death-via-assimilation-into-Lex-Luthor, the big bad is still out there. And in this case the big bad is Perpetua, the literal mother of the crisis-instigating Monitors.

Today, DC has very kindly shared with The Beat an exclusive preview of Justice League #39. As the publisher notes in the solicitation text, this issue will wrap up much of what has been brewing in this book since Snyder and Jimenez launched the story way back in No Justice. Check out the exclusive preview pages from the book below, after the jump.

Justice League #39

In the wake of the Justice/Doom War, the Justice League finds themselves stranded at the far end of the universe and facing a challenge they’ve never faced before. But what will they find on their journey? Has their battle with Perpetua had consequences reaching farther across the cosmos than they ever imagined? Superstar scribe Scott Snyder says farewell to the Justice League with a special story that both winds down all the things he started in issue #1-and nods toward everything that comes next in the DC Universe.
