Once, the Circle was a force for balance. Its members strove to keep the infinite planets in check– to stop lives from being lost to endless and senseless violence. But then there was Gandelo, a member of the Circle who strove to not only answer threats when they arose, but stop them before they even had a chance to manifest. And so Gandelo began eliminating planets that she considered “blights” in secret. These covert acts of destruction eventually led Gandelo to Rogol Zaar, a powerful being who was the last of his race and filled with rage. He destroyed Krypton for Gandelo, inadvertently sending two Kryptonians– who we now know as Superman and Supergirl– on a journey that has led them back to where the chaos of their lives began.

In Supergirl #32, Kara, alongside Superman, Superboy, and Jor-El, make their final stand against Rogol Zaar and Gandelo. Armed with the secrets of the Circle, the knowledge of Krypton’s end, and Rogol Zaar’s axe, will Kara come out of the other side of this conflict as the Supergirl we’ve come to know and love?
