What do you get when you combine a young, intrepid reporter, a brutal murder, and a mysterious socialite? A thriller that plays on some of our deepest, twistiest fears. Best-selling author Gaby Dunn (Bad with Money, I Hate Everyone But You) and artist Claire Roe (Batgirl and The Birds of Prey) team up with colorist Miguel Muerto (Strange Skies Over East Berlin) this October for Bury the Lede, a new original graphic novel published by BOOM! Studios.

Bury the Lede is inspired by Dunn’s own experiences as a young reporter at The Boston Globe. The story follows cub reporter Madison Jackson, who is hungry to prove that she deserves her coveted college internship at The Boston Lede. When her police scanner mentions a brutal murder tied to a prominent Boston family, Madison heads directly to the crime scene hoping for a scoop. Instead, she finds celebrity socialite Dahlia Kennedy covered in blood.

Dahlia becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her husband and child, but the only person she’ll speak to is Madison — which puts the entire case on her shoulders. As Madison investigates the story, she sinks into the city’s hidden circles of crime, corruption, and privilege, all in the pursuit of truth.

Today, The Beat can reveal an exclusive look at Bury the Lede, which hits comic shops October 2 and bookstores October 9. Check out the preview below.
