Debuting back in 2024, it’s no exaggeration to say that Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees from writer/artist Patrick Horvath has been a bona fide critical and commercial success for IDW Publishing. Described as Dexter meets Richard Scarry’s Busytown, both the series and main character, the bloodthirsty brown bear Samantha Strong, have clearly resonated with readers even resulting in product tie-ins including a hot sauce from Jade City Foods. Thus it was a no-brainer for IDW and Horvath to continue the story with a sequel series, Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring, released last summer.
Fans will be happy to know that a third series is already underway from Horvath. Before that, the final issue of Rite of Spring is set to hit shelves next week and The Beat is proud to exclusively reveal pages from Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring #6.
As readers are well aware, things came to a head in the penultimate issue last month with Sam literally going scorched-earth by burning her store after the truth of her serial killing hobby was discovered by the authorities. If that weren’t enough, Monica has finally learned that her “friend” Sam was responsible for the murder of her brother Daniel. I’m sure fans are champing at the bit to find out whether or not Monica, or the town of Woodbrook will survive the devastating fire that Sam has started.
