The Beat is proud to exclusively reveal covers and solicit info for Monster High: House Haunters, a new five-issue biweekly series arriving this September just in time for Halloween.

In this miniseries from writer Ben Kahn and artist Sonia Liao, the Ghoulfriends decide to check out a “normie” ScareBnB only to discover things aren’t as they appear. Moreover, IDW is teasing the introduction of a brand new character to the franchise!

Editor Riley Farmer teased the following:

House Haunters is a WILD ride. We’ve all had some questionable ScareBnB experiences, but Ben Kahn and Sonia Liao take things to a new level–zero star hosts, five star creators. They took a lot of inspiration from 80s horror movies, and are delivering The Evil Dead meets Monster High; fans of scary movies will love this book, if you can make it past all the punny Easter eggs in issue #1. Not only are they delivering fright after fright every other week this spooky season, but Sonia and Ben worked with Mattel to build a gorgeous new character that fans will adore. There’s something for everyone! I’m so eekcited for House Haunters to finally hit shelves this fall–book your reservations now!

After rebooting the brand a few years ago, Mattel has remained committed to expanding the Monster High franchise through a publishing program that would include comics published under IDW. Fans should definitely be excited for what’s to come next year.

Join Frankie Stein, Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf, Cleo de Nile, and Lagoona Blue as they uncover the mysteries of their weekend haunt! All five issues are purrfect for Monster High fans and anyone looking for a fright. To celebrate the Halloween season, IDW is partnering with Mattel to bring readers a spooktacular, pun-filled biweekly series. And what’s more frightening than a haunted house? Except the cabin the ghouls found on the normie version of ScareBnB is… toads boring. No cobwebs, no rusty saw blades, just a tacky singing plastic fish. The ghouls are scary underwhelmed, until they discover a classically creepy basement and accidentally unlock an ancient horror, awakening an evil titan, and someone, or somehouse, else.
